General Summary of the Job:

Within the DI SW T&I Architecture & Standards organization, this position collaborates with a dynamic team comprising Automation Specialists, DevOps, and Infrastructure Engineers to implement innovative and scalable concepts and standards. The primary focus lies in constructing a management framework for extensive computational infrastructure. Emphasis is placed on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), configuration management, and DevOps methodologies. Utilizing a blend of proprietary and commercial software, our team orchestrates the deployment and oversight of a vast computational infrastructure supporting diverse software engineering teams. This role plays a pivotal part in establishing architectural strategies and standards to optimize the management of software development environment resources, promoting efficiency and consistency in resource provisioning and management, both on-premises and in public cloud environments. The incumbent will directly contribute to and guide teams in crafting automation solutions for operational and software development endeavors. Additional responsibilities encompass enhancing internally developed applications and crafting declarative code using tools such as Puppet and Ansible.

Key Required Skills:

  • Problem-Solving Skills : Ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions to improve efficiency and reliability of infrastructure management.

  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) : Understanding of the software development lifecycle and experience in collaborating with software engineering teams to enhance development processes.

  • Collaborative Communication : Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including Automation Specialists, DevOps, and Infrastructure Engineers.

  • Automation Expertise : Proficiency in designing and implementing automation solutions for operational and software development teams. Experience with tools like Puppet and Ansible would be essential.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) : Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code principles and experience in writing declarative code to manage infrastructure resources efficiently.

  • DevOps Practices : Familiarity with DevOps methodologies and practices, including continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and version control systems like Git.

  • Configuration Management : Some experience and understanding of configuring and managing large-scale infrastructure components using configuration management tools.

  • Continuous Learning : Willingness to stay updated with the latest technologies and trends in automation, DevOps, and infrastructure management to drive innovation and improvement within the organization.

Desirable Skills:

  • Architectural Design : Capability to contribute to the establishment of architectural strategies and standards for managing software development environment resources.

  • Cloud Computing : Knowledge of public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including provisioning and managing resources in a cloud environment.

Education and Experience Requirement:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree with a preferable emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Engineering.

  • SW Development (5+ yrs) experience with Python, JavaScript, Puppet, Ansible, and web applications development highly desirable. Any experience in Ruby, PHP, and SQL is also desirable.

  • GIT experience

  • GitLab-CI/CD experience required

  • Understanding of containers, docker build, and integration with GitLab

  • Understand branching, tagging and release management

  • Linux System Administration experience (2+ yrs)

  • RHCE is a plus

  • Break-fix and troubleshooting skills both on individual endpoints and at scale

  • PXE and Kickstart experience also desirable

  • Tanium experience desirable

  • Writing custom sensors

  • General administration and maintenance

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Remote or office environment, as well as hybrid is available.

  • Ability to travel domestic and global 10% or less.

The salary range for this position is $121,400 to $218,500 and this role is eligible to earn incentive compensation. The actual compensation offered is based on the successful candidate’s work location as well as additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education/training.
