Our Client is seeking a Senior Machine Design Engineer to join their team in Jackson, MI. As a Senior Machine Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated machines and equipment for the baking industry. Your day-to-day tasks will include conceptualizing, prototyping, and validating machine designs, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. This is a full-time on-site role where you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative automation technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Design new products and modify existing designs.
  • Assist in resolving Manufacturing, Assembly, Outsourcing, Warranty, and Rectification issues.
  • Actively research and analyze competitive offerings.
  • Provide guidance to manufacturing and assembly.
  • Support development of owner's manuals for new products.
  • Assist in creation and maintenance of quality standards.
  • Allocate engineering workloads to meet production milestones.
  • Oversee day-to-day decisions and work execution of Mechanical Engineering team.
  • Take a proactive approach to new product development and equipment upgrades.
  • Resolve Warranty and Rectification issues.
  • Implement plans for rectification reduction and Engineering BOM changes.
  • Establish best practice standards and lead the Mechanical Engineering Team.
  • Advise management on new developments affecting various aspects.
  • Provide direction on interpretation and application of company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong Mechatronics background.
  • Experienced in SolidWorks.
  • Packaging Equipment background required.
  • OEM equipment manufacturing preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong multitasking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a sense of urgency.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfortable in office and shop environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing a plus.
  • Performance coaching and mentoring mindset.
