Literacy Consultant

IN THIS ROLE:
Provides leadership, professional learning, consulting, resource development, and technical
assistance to the local school districts, public school academies, and community partners in
Oakland County in Literacy.
WHAT WE NEED:

- Provides leadership and support to local districts, educators, community partners, and
families in Literacy in Oakland County, with a particular focus on grades K-5.
- Leads local, regional, and statewide projects/initiatives in service of local districts,
educators, community partners, and families.
- Designs and conducts professional learning opportunities for local districts, educators,
community partners, and families in Literacy, with a particular focus on grades K-5.
- Provides consultation to local districts, educators, community partners, and families on
federal legislation/regulations and state mandates regarding Literacy.
- Serves as a liaison to external agencies such as the Michigan Department of Education,
universities, and professional organizations in Literacy.
- Works within the assigned team to identify, design, manage, assess, and evaluate products
and services in Literacy.
- Maintains knowledge of current research, leading edge developments, and legal mandates
related to Literacy.
- Works cooperatively with local districts, educators, community partners, and families on
efforts related to Literacy.
- Builds leadership capacity among educators in the county in Literacy.
- Creates and oversees the development of resources and services for educators in Literacy.
- Composes grant proposals and manages resultant grants according to outlined grant
expectations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED:

- Master's degree in Literacy, Teaching, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field with a
focused study in Early Literacy required. Ph.D. in Literacy, Reading & Language Arts, or
Curriculum & Instruction preferred.
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certification.
- Minimum of five years' work experience in Literacy, with a particular focus on grades K-5.
- Minimum of five years' work experience as a classroom teacher in an elementary setting.
- Previous experience in instructional coaching, consulting, leading instructional design, and
facilitating adult learning in small & large group settings.
- Deep knowledge and experience with the GELN Essential Instructional Practices in
Literacy, Coaching Practices, and Organizational Practices.
- Understanding of educational systems, legal issues, policies, research, and trends in
Literacy.
- Ability to properly utilize technology necessary in conducting professional learning and
work productivity.
Experience working in a Regional Educational Service Agency is preferred.
SALARY DETAILS:
$96,106.00 - $111,453 based on experience, with the potential of earning up to $120,023.00 Annually / Exempt Position / 12-month work year. Start Date: July 1, 2024
