Position:F&B Server

Reports to:F&B Supervisor

FLSA Status:Non-Exempt

Position Summary:Responsible for the efficient and correct service of food and/or beverage to patrons according to the casino procedures and applicable state laws. Guests must feel welcome, comfortable and well attended to at all times.

Essential Duties:

  • Escorts customers to their tables.
  • Assists customers with seating arrangements.
  • Assists host or hostess by answering phones to take to-go orders, and by greeting, seating, and thanking guests.
  • Presents menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request.
  • Takes orders from patrons for food or beverages.
  • Writes patrons\' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, and enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff.
  • Prepares hot or cold beverages.
  • Checks patrons\' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Informs customers of daily specials.
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods.
  • Serves food or beverages to patrons, and prepares or serves specialty dishes at tables as required.
  • Checks with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
  • Processes customer bills or payments.
  • Collects payments from customers.
  • Communicates with customers to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
  • Performs food preparation duties such as preparing salads, appetizers, and cold dishes, portioning desserts, and brewing coffee.
  • Prepares tables for meals, including setting up items such as linens, silverware, and glassware.
  • Rolls silverware, sets up food stations or sets up dining areas to prepare for the next shift or for large parties.
  • Stocks service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware, and linens.
  • Stocks serving stations or dining areas with food or supplies.
  • Fills salt, pepper, sugar, cream, condiment, and napkin containers.
  • Cleans tables or counters after patrons have finished dining.
  • Cleans food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment.
  • Performs cleaning duties, such as sweeping and mopping floors, vacuuming carpet, tidying up server station, and taking out trash.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent strongly preferred.
  • Previous server experience preferred.
  • Valid HIS Food Handlers Certificate required.
  • Current ABLE Commission Liquor License required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Must be able to responsibly handle cash transactions.
  • Must be able to consolidate and coordinate needs for all tables within their section.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Understand and comply with all Company and departmental rules and regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids.

  • Physical agility to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs/ladders, work in small spaces, walk, reach and lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
  • Requires occasional heavy physical work; pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds.
  • Work involves almost constant exposure to elements, such as extreme temperatures, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
