Chesapeake Bay Beach Club Sous Chef in Stevensville, Maryland

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Knoxie's Table. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supervising and managing the kitchen operations in a food industry setting. Your leadership and culinary expertise will contribute to the success of our establishment. Duties:

  • Participate in the preparation and design of the a la carte menus and special event menus.
  • Produce high quality plates both in design and taste.
  • Ensure that a la carte kitchen operates in a professional and timely fashion that meets quality and standards in the absence of the Executive Chef.
  • Responsible for the daily line operations and weekly staff scheduling.
  • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation.
  • Acceptance/control of deliveries when necessary.
  • Create monthly deep cleaning schedule to be approved by Executive Chef.
  • Ensure proper food preparation to safeguard quality and appearance.
  • Assist with production placement (making sure food is where it needs to be).
  • Lead food service to ensure quality, appearance and timeliness of food being served.
  • Assist in cleanup/closing kitchen and food areas.
  • Ensure proper storage of fresh products and other food items.
  • Ensure others adhere strictly to recipes.
  • Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
  • Consistent implementation of any and all company security procedures and securing backup documentation regarding safety of guests and team members (fire, police, emergency medical as needed), as well as measures for security of company facilities and property (locks, safes, alarm systems, equipment).

Experience:

  • Proven experience in restaurant management or kitchen management roles
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of culinary techniques, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with staff, management, and suppliers.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Certification in food safety or culinary arts is preferred but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of local health and safety regulations.
