McLaren Health Care Philanthropy Officer Communications - McLaren Careers in Petoskey, Michigan

Under the direction of the Philanthropy leader and/or the Communications Manager, is responsible for writing development letters, such as gift acknowledgements and helping to develop donor materials and publications supporting stewardship, marketing and other Philanthropy initiatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned

:

  1. Under direction, implements a donor stewardship and recognition plan to create positive exposure for the hospital and fundraising areas to both internal and external audiences; increase the number of funding sources, annual donors, gifts and retention rates.

  2. Develops and implements donor cultivation and stewardship strategies and events.

  3. Works collaboratively with Philanthropy team members and volunteers in developing and coordinating fundraising activities with a major donor focus, personalized cultivation strategies for leadership donors, special receptions and recognition events.

  4. Composes special acknowledgements and correspondence; prepares stewardship reports,assists in preparation of proposals,personalized mailings and other materials that strengthen relationships with current and prospective donors.

  5. Responsible for event briefing notes and scripts for hospital leadership and other VIPs.

  6. Maintains confidential and comprehensive database information for all giving/stewardship purposes. May assist with daily gift processing to ensure accurate, timely recording and appropriate acknowledgement.

  7. Interacts with all levels of the organization, including senior management, board members, major donors and foundations, and members of the community.May foster relationships with advocates and key persons.

  8. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of directly related experience.

Preferred:

  • Professional experience in development, business or technical writing, communications, media relations, or related field.

  • Experience in a hospital fundraising setting.
