Our client is a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) company based in Annapolis, Maryland. Their innovative platform empowers businesses to streamline their content creation, management, and distribution processes, driving efficiency and productivity. As they continue to grow and expand their offerings, they are seeking a talented and experienced Controller with expertise in ASC 606, consolidated financials, and international experience to join their team and lead their financial operations.

Position Overview:

As the Controller with expertise in ASC 606 and consolidated financials, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our SaaS company. Based in our Annapolis office where you will go in 5X a week, you will lead a team responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis, with a focus on revenue recognition under ASC 606 standards and consolidation of financial statements for our domestic and international operations. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to ensure compliance with ASC 606 requirements, oversee the consolidation process, and drive strategic initiatives to support our continued growth and success in the content management industry.

ey Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial reporting, including revenue recognition under ASC 606 standards and consolidation of financial statements for domestic and international operations.

  • Lead the implementation and ongoing management of ASC 606 policies and procedures, including revenue recognition policies, contract review processes, and revenue forecasting methodologies.

  • Manage the consolidation process for financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with international finance teams to ensure consistency in accounting practices and financial reporting across regions.

  • Develop and maintain accurate revenue forecasts and financial projections for consolidated entities, analyzing revenue trends and variances to support strategic decision-making and business planning.

  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process for consolidated entities, working closely with department heads to develop accurate and achievable financial plans.

  • Lead the annual audit process and serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on revenue recognition and consolidation matters.

  • Mentor and develop finance team members, providing guidance and support on ASC 606 compliance, consolidation, and related financial matters.

  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and industry best practices, ensuring ongoing compliance and continuous improvement in revenue recognition and consolidation processes.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.

  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with significant experience in revenue recognition under ASC 606, consolidated financial reporting, and international finance.

  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 requirements and experience leading ASC 606 implementations in a SaaS or technology company.

  • Experience with consolidation of financial statements for domestic and international operations.

  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems; experience with NetSuite or similar platforms preferred.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex accounting standards and apply them to real-world scenarios.

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence decision-making.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
