Paycom Online Sr. Instructional Designer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The Instructional Designer Sr is responsible for driving Paycom product usage and adoption, as well as, employee performance and business results through designing and developing multimodal instructional materials used for Paycom internal and client training. This role will help coordinate, manage and execute all aspects of producing training materials including, but not limited to, researching, planning and developing content. Their areas of focus include Paycom’s client training program and internal company- or department-wide instructional initiatives. This individual will partner with project stakeholders, subject matter experts (SMEs), and department leadership and colleagues in researching, planning and developing written and visual content.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead project discovery meetings with business leaders and stakeholders to determine business objectives
Write and produce training materials, such as guides, video scripts, screen recordings and more, using a variety of content creation software
Build e-learning content while maintaining a defined workflow that includes assessing stakeholder needs and gaining agreement on deliverables, designing deliverables, and deploying and evaluating impact of deliverables
Design e-learning content that is usable and easily understood by various audiences – clients and their employees, new hires, leaders, etc.
Lead team members and stakeholders through projects according to agreed-upon project deliverables and timelines while maintaining project documentation and report progress
Consult and interface with internal and client stakeholders to address specific learning needs throughout the content development process
Analyze business needs to determine gaps and opportunities for future content development
Take ownership of projects and tasks from conception to completion, ensuring Paycom’s standard of quality across all learning content is met
Use thorough understanding of the product, reporting, content file types and how clients use the product to provide solutions
Translate training topics into content that is usable and easily understood by various audiences – clients and their employees, new hires, leaders, etc.
Use Paycom’s LMS product to upload and deploy material and provide recommendations for improvements to the LMS product and course deployment methods
Partner with QA and Developers to troubleshoot and provide possible solutions pertaining to e-learning content packages and how they communicate with the LMS
Revise all content as needed to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance as well as alignment with product or process updatesLearn and gain subject matter expertise including updates in new products, etc
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree required; degree in Journalism, English, Communication, Education or art-related preferred
Experience:
3+ years of experience in training/technical or creative writing/instructional design
Basic knowledge of HTLM5, SCORM 2004, SCORM 1.2, TIN CAN and AICC formats
Use of e-learning authoring tools: Articulate 360 - Storyline and Rise, Adobe Captivate or other
Use of video editing software: Camtasia, Adobe - Premiere and After Effects
Use of design editing software: Adobe - InDesign and Illustrator
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communication or Education
Skills/Abilities:
Strong project management skills
Advanced communication and editing skills, both written and verbal
Superior command of the English language including rules and usage; AP Style preferred
Strong analytical, planning, organizational and time management skills
Strong research skills including gathering and analyzing data from multiple sources (subject matter experts, project managers) to develop content, training materials and manuals
Proven ability to create creative, unique and relevant content
Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment with aggressive deadlines
Proficient computer skills, especially Microsoft Office applications
