Job Title - Facilities Technician

Salary - $21.00 - $22.50 Hourly

Objectives

Under the Facilities Manager supervision, the Facilities Technician is responsible for performing repair and preventative maintenance of County buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Conduct routine building inspections to ensure structures remain in good repair;
  • Complete needed repairs and improvements, building and grounds alterations, renovations, and construction;
  • Make repairs of any faulty conditions in equipment, buildings and grounds;
  • Confer with Facilities Manager to determine conditions, scope of work to be performed and assist with preparation of cost estimates when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, chemicals, equipment, custodial supplies;
  • Other duties as assigned;
  • All functions listed may not cover all duties that are required to be performed.   

I.  JOB REQUIREMENTS Equipment: Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as computer and related software, copier, telephone, calculator, FAX machine, VCR/DVD, video projector, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment necessary to perform duties. Individual uses appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary. Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle is required.   Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • General knowledge of energy management systems, plumbing, HVAC systems, heavy construction equipment, tools and meters, and appliance repair;
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions regarding proper use and care of power equipment and preparation,
  • storage and proper use of cleaning agents;
  • Communicates professionally and effectively with internal and external customers, both orally and in writing;
  • Organizes and prioritizes work assignments, multi task with accurate focus and refocus in a fast paced environment;
  • Delivers excellent customer service, externally and internally;
  • Efficiently operate computer programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and agency specific programs; 

II. DIFFICULTY OF WORK  The physical requirements of the position include climbing, bending, stretching, pulling, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds or one hundred (100) pounds with assistance.   III. RESPONSIBILITY Individual is given general direction from Coordinator in following established practices and clear-cut policies. Work is reviewed in the process. Errors are generally readily detected in normal course of work by standard checking resulting in little or no difficulty in loss of time to correct. This position entails repairing buildings and equipment, inspecting facilities and maintaining inventory.   IV. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS  Contact is with co-workers, employees from public and private sector organizations and the public. V. PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT This position may require the Technician to work in unpleasant working conditions on occasion.   Those conditions can include unpredictable hours; changing weather conditions; heavy lifting; and exposure to loud noises and chemicals.     Physical Requirements:  The physical requirements of the position include climbing, bending, stretching, pulling, lifting up to fifty (50) pounds or one hundred (100) pounds with assistance.
