Summary You will serve as a PLASTIC FABRICATOR LEADER (EXPERT) in the COATINGS and COVERINGS SHOP, Code 970, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. The incumbent of this position will serve as an Expert Plastic Fabricator leading a group to ensure work assignments are completed. Responsibilities You will conduct random surveillance inspections of in-process preservation work that is accomplished by shop personnel. You will perform inspections of deficient coatings and work in process to ensure the Supervisor's direction is followed, proper standards and practices are being adhered to, and rework is minimized. You will determine the methods, techniques, materials, and devices best suited to obtain smooth-textured and decorative surfaces. You will perform Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting (UHPWJ) on the exterior of ships and submarines above and below ground level from various heights up to 100 feet. You will prepare and direct subordinate crews of up to 30 employees to apply, manufacture and repair coating materials.
