GS-4: 39,961 - 51,945 GS-5: 44,709 - 58,118 GS-6: 49,838 - 64,792 Responsibilities You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the RADIOLOGICAL MONITORING DIVISION (CODE 105.3), RADIOLOGICAL CONTROL OFFICE, PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD, KITTERY, ME. You will adhere to radiological control requirements for assignments which involve numerous processes in several high skill level trades; e.g., pipefitting, welding, machining and rigging in vessels of different designs. You will serve as a major radiological control representative in "dry run" planning, practice, or "mock-up" sessions in preparation for major repairs/overhaul or refueling operations such as replacement of primary coolant system parts/ fuel cells. You will take charge of response to radiation related emergencies and incidents until replaced by a senior radiological control supervisor or manager. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience assisting with applying standardized rules, procedures, methods, techniques, and operations that apply to radiological principles or health physics. *Experience assisting with gathering, recording, and assembling pertinent data and report observations and findings to appropriate personnel. GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience assisting with applying standardized rules, procedures, methods, techniques, and operations that apply to radiological principles or health physics. *experience assisting with gathering, recording, and assembling pertinent data and report observations and findings to appropriate personnel. GS-6: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience assisting with utilizing radiation survey to implement radiation control requirements in assigned ship or shipyard area(s). *Experience assisting with utilizing ship and shipyard layout (including location of safety and emergency equipment, drain water and sewage systems, harbor, contaminated equipment, and radiation sources) to plan ways to control possible incidents. *Experience analyzing ventilation, detection, filtration, and containment material, equipment, and systems to assure adequacy of various standard containment and ventilation systems and procedures. *Experience assisting with interpreting work plans to detect deviations from approved procedures and assure compliance with radiological safety requirements.
