KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

1. Valid CDL license with required endorsements.

2. Meet all state requirements for Bus Drivers which includes Defensive Driving Course, Medic First Aid Course and a physical every 2 years.

3. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.

4. Attend training for new drivers - 6 hours for over 25 passenger bus, 2 hours under 25 passenger bus.

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

JOB GOAL: To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may attend school and participate in activities.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Knowledge of all traffic laws and obeys them.
2. Follows District policies in regard to student transportation.
3. Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
4. Follows District\'s procedures when disciplining students.
5. Keeps assigned bus clean.
6. Keeps to assigned schedule.
7. Does pre-trip inspection as per District policy.
8. Notifies the supervisor in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
9. Discharges students only at authorized stops.
10. Transports only authorized students.
11. Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
12. Any other responsibilities as noted in the Transportation Handbook or as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor.
13. Attends monthly Safety meetings.
14. Conducts Evacuation Drills 2 times each year

A drug test and physical are also required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Approximately 180 days.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board\'s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel. *If the position has the potential of being a 630 hour per year position, KPERS will be withheld.
