The Assistant Purchasing Manager is responsible for the management of contracting all purchasing needs and negotiations on assigned trade material types.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Successfully complete the designated Assistant Purchasing Manager Training Program

  • Develop an understanding in order to oversee the supervision of production budgets; contracts; custom built options and Scopes of Work

  • Create base and elevation budget estimates for new products (houses)

  • Ensure and promote “Best Practice Operating Procedures” to limit legal and financial exposure

  • Grow in expertise and become responsible for maintenance of Master Agreements with Exhibits, Scopes of Work, correspondence and other miscellaneous information

  • Assist in the creation of Neighborhood-specific Product Books from pre-Neighborhood start to final closing of last home

  • Become acutely aware of and learn what is necessary for the efficient maintenance of all purchasing information on the intranet

  • In tandem with the Purchasing Managers, maintain Homebuilder One ERP system for base, elevation and option cost

  • Regularly market-test costs and labor/material demands (bids)

  • Maintain department systems and procedures to provide efficiency

  • Develop a deep understanding of work order revisions and monitor them for opportunities to enhance our Scopes of Work

  • Manage the completion of contract maintenance through regular Contract Maintenance Log assessment

  • Grow in expertise in the Prototype walk process and the changes that result from the feedback during the walk through

  • Research and recommend solutions when material shortages occur to ensure home production keeps moving

  • Process problem invoices as required

  • Complete all other duties as assigned by manager

  • Represent the company professionally in all internal and external interactions and communications

  • Adhere to company safety standards and help promote a safe working environment

Position Requirements:

  • College degree preferred;

  • Purchasing experience required

  • Experience working with contracts and/or budgets preferred, and

  • Exceptional Excel and Word and PowerPoint skills

  • This role may be eligible for hybrid work
