Summary:

The Software Engineering Director is responsible for leading the overall strategy, design, delivery, and management of technology resources to support eviCore business, with a major focus on Healthcare Data Exchange and Interoperability.

The role will provide thought leadership & independently interface with key senior leaders and stakeholders from the business, the functional operational areas, and the broader technology applications, architecture, operations and security teams

The Software Engineering Director will also help identify and support a technology staffing strategy that not only meets the current needs of the eviCore business, but also positions us for greater flexibility and responsiveness to future needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementing end-to-end strategy, prioritization, design, delivery and management of technology resources and assets in support of the eviCore business.

  • Develop target state vision and execution roadmap of Data Exchange Services, and align appropriate resources for delivery.

  • Translate the enterprise technology strategy into the eviCore Data Exchange and Interoperability domains, recommending initiative funding and setting priorities in support of that strategy.

  • Serve as a senior point of escalation for staff, business sponsors, technology executives and Clients

  • Partner with senior leadership from the business and technology community to identify and prioritize opportunities for achieving the goals of the enterprise.

  • Provide consultative support in the area of business strategy development and solution assessments.

  • Attract, recruit, manage, develop, and retain talented team members. This includes both hiring and growing employees as well as effective use of consultants or vendor partnerships.

  • Guide and oversee staff in the development of program delivery strategies ensuring alignment with the supporting business cases as well as the associated enterprise-wide project plans.

  • Assist staff in formulating adjustments to project scope, timing, and budgets as needed.

  • Execute on communication plans and interface with matrix teams, technology leadership, business leadership, and external vendors/partners.

  • Track and monitor the progress of key projects/programs and their associated milestones and recommend adjustment as necessary.

  • Become a proactive trusted advisor to the business and technology matrix partners.

  • Ensure adherence to consistent processes, best practices, standards, and total quality practices

  • Direct technology processes and metrics that measure and improve team performance.

  • Conduct regular status meetings with the delivery and departmental teams.

  • Conduct performance evaluation and reviews.

  • Manage all day-to-day personnel issues and hiring of the technology teams while fostering an environment of dedication to the success of releases.

Required skills:

  • BS Degree in computer science, information systems, or other related degrees; advanced degree such as an MBA preferred.

  • Recognized leader with experience directly leading an organization of 50+ resources, along with a proven track record of delivering software engineering initiatives and cross-technology/business initiatives with scope commensurate with a $10-$15M program portfolio.

  • Minimum 15 years of technology and business/industry experience preferred, with at least 10 years of experience in a leadership role with responsibility for the delivery of large-scale projects and programs.

  • Healthcare background is preferred.

  • Extensive knowledge and applied expertise in software engineering methodologies.

  • Several years of practical experience in agile software development life cycle (sdlc) best practices and principles.

  • Deep people and matrix management skills, with a heavy emphasis on coaching and mentoring of less senior staff, and a strong ability to influence senior leaders within business and it.

  • Proven ability to resolve difficult and politically-spirited issues and mitigate risks that have the potential of undermining the delivery of critical initiatives.

  • Consistently demonstrates key behaviors and skills such as servant leadership, thought leadership, and direction setting.

  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams; set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity.

  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization effectively.

  • Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure.

  • Advanced ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.

  • Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives.

  • Extensive change and release management experience.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
