    ShelterCare is a non-profit that believes in "housing first", we meet people where they are. As a Housing Specialist in PSH you will help ShelterCare fight homelessness by providing supportive services to Lane County tenants stuffing with untreated health issues.You will work with participants to overcome barriers to housing stability; assess needs, develop action plans, coach skill development, and follow through with goals.

    You will also assist with the screening and assessment of applicants, performing intakes and inspections, and advocating with landlords, community organizations, and agencies.

    This is a full-time non-exempt position that will report to the Permanent Supported Housing Program Manager and Asst. Program Manager. The starting wage for this role is $19.71-$20.12/per hour, depending on a number of factors including experience. This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance..

    What you bring to ShelterCare:

    Required

  • Three years case management experience, preferably with individuals with a history of homelessness OR;

  • Bachelor's degree in a Behavioral Science

  • Ability to drive agency vehicles

  • Ability to successfully pass a DHS background check

    Preferred

  • Prior supportive services management and/or counseling experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness is also preferred; but not required.

  • The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills; good judgment; an ability to build relationships and work effectively with participants in crisis; and a demonstrated commitment to the ShelterCare mission and values.
