LifePoint Health Staff Dev Coord/Infection Prev in Etowah, Tennessee

Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Prevention for our Skilled Nursing Facility. This job is permanent, full time.

Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Must be able to schedule facility staff at levels determined by DON/LNHA.
  • Must be able to prepare and maintain records of all shift schedules and communicate clearly to staff.
  • Must be able to understand State requirements and forecasting.
  • Must be able to accurately reconcile payroll statements
  • Must be able to perform functions of a staff nurse as required.
  • Participates in the development, coordination, and delivery of new staff orientation and education activities.
  • Participates in quality assurance performance improvement activities of the organization and the department.
  • Must exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
  • Serves as a consultant/mentor for staff in areas of program development, clinical practice, and professional development.
  • Must be able to assist in the education of patients.
  • Directs the review and tracking of all blood and bodily fluid exposures, including employee promptness in reporting exposure, appropriateness of evaluation Lab) and treatment, and exposure risk.
  • Must demonstrate dependable, regular attendance.
  • Must be able to concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment.
  • Must be able to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.

Minimum Education: Graduate of an accredited LPN Program: □ Preferred X Required Graduate of an accredited RN Program: X Preferred □ Required Required Licenses: [Tennessee, United States] Licensed Practical Nurse Current LPN license in the State of Tennessee or another compact state: □ Preferred X Required Current RN License in the State of Tennessee or another compact state: X Preferred □ Required Certifications: The below certifications will be required at the time of hire: X Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Prior health care experience is preferred.

Must complete an approved Infection Preventions Certification course (e.g., CIC, CBIC, IP-BC, IPCA, CDC) within six months of hire / transition into position. * *Specific Job Requirements: * Must have proficient computer skills, including Excel and/or other staff scheduling programs * Must have advanced knowledge in field of practice. * Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. * Must be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility. * Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department. * Must perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to patient rights, and safety and sanitation. * Maintains professional working relationships with all staff, vendors, etc. * Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information. * Must understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures. * Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Starr’s Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct and other appropriate compliance training. * Serves as designated staff responsible for monitoring Public Health Advisories from local, state, and federal agencies including the CDC. * Serves as the on-site IPC for COVID-19 prevention and response activities, in accordance with current CDC recommendations. * Maintains a current knowledge of infection control trends, methodologies, and employee health practices. * Performs work within the scope of his/her license. * Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. * Must be knowledgeable of Infection Prevention and Control practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing functions in the post-acute care facility. * Must have the ability to implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the Infection Prevention and Control Program. * Must perform proficiently in all applicable competency areas.
