Trinity Health Detroit (THD) was established in March 2001 as a continuing ministry of Trinity Health on Detroit’s Eastside. THD, serves the primary care needs of both uninsured and underinsured adults in Michigan by providing primary care, limited diagnostic testing and imaging, transportation, and pharmaceuticals.

THD strives to eliminate the barriers to access to care that many individuals face. In addition, THD arranges for specialty care through relationships with specialists and partnerships with other organizations.

The Manager provides direction and operational oversight for the Center, overseeing up to twenty-five colleagues. Responsible for supervising and coordinating daily activities of assigned staff. Performs analysis of practice processes and recommends improvements as needed. Works with Executive Director (ED) and Medical Directors (MD) to ensure efficient and effective office procedures are in place. Helps leadership optimize insurance revenue and grant funding as appropriate. Reports to the Executive Director of the Detroit Health Ministry.

This facility supports a staff of 20 with 5 providers.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or combined work and experience required, preferably in a medical practice.

  • Experience:

  • Minimum five to seven years progressively responsible experience in a health care organization.

  • Management experience in a health care organization preferred.

  • Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and / or coordinate activities of a diverse team

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate to internal and external customers, vendors and partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the daily activities and schedules for office staff.

  • Provides leadership support for executing workplan initiatives, reviewing patient satisfaction scores, and planning and implementing long-term goals.

  • Assists with hiring, orientation, training and coaching of staff.

  • Conducts and oversees regular huddles with front desk and assigned clinical staff to ensure efficient daily workflow and advise/share with ED and MD areas of concern and opportunities for improvement.

  • Reviews electronic medical record system (EMR) to ensure inbox management is up to date and being worked.

  • Manages volunteer and specialty care schedules for free clinics.

  • Produces reports required by ED or MD related to patient visit numbers, quality initiatives grant reporting and Board member request.

  • Reviews annual staff and provider satisfaction reports with ED and MD and implements and monitors ongoing improvement plans.

  • Works with ED and MD to review quality data and develop action plans as needed.

  • Responsible for timecard management and payroll for assigned employees.

  • Provides agenda content for staff meetings and leads meetings in EDs absence.

  • Coordinates invoice management and payment.

  • Assists in analysis and resolution of billing, charge reviews, registration, insurance and collection issues as appropriate and helps ensure optimum revenue generation (for sites serving insured patients only).

  • Responsible for coordinating with contractors/landlord for building maintenance, equipment repairs and maintaining office supply levels.

  • Fills in for absent employees where appropriate.

  • Ensures employees adhere to Trinity Health’s employment requirements including adherence to attendance policies, licensure renewal and certifications.

  • Special projects as assigned.
