JOB SUMMARY: Wait on tables, market, sell and serve all meal items

The ideal candidate, will assist, serve and wait on tables promptly during events, functions and/or meetingsYou will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages and food orders to guest tables; collect payments; assist in the maintenance of the restaurant area and equipment.

In this highly visible position you will be interacting with hotel guests, visitors and restaurant/bar/kitchen staff. One of the bases to a positive guest experience is positive interaction with Hotel Valencia Staff. It is essential that you remain professional at all times, and that you treat all guests and associates with courtesy and respect, under all circumstances.

You will also be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, hours of operation, proper table set-up, and dress code of the restaurant.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections, glassware and garnishes in the restaurant
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, prices, preparation method/time, major ingredients, and quality standards of taste, appearance, texture, serving temperature, portion size, garnish, and method of presentation.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons, and drunk driving.
  • Organize assigned stations and ensure readiness prior to guest arrival.
  • Greet guests and suggest beverage order, utilizing upselling techniques.
  • Relay daily specials with brief descriptions; answer all questions on menu selections accurately and offer suggestions.
  • Take guests orders utilizing upselling techniques and record all orders following service standards.
  • Input orders into system and ensure transmission of orders is verified by kitchen when assigned to do so.
  • Work closely with Kitchen Staff in assigned station on service and timing.
  • Monitor and anticipate guest needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests even when busy.
  • Maintain positive guest relations. Be familiar with all hotel services/features.
  • Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Total all charges, present guest checks according to procedure, and process checks according to departmental policy.
  • Adhere to payment, cash handling, credit card, and room charge policies and procedures.
  • Assist Food Runners as required to ensure optimum service levels.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute positively to the team within the department
  • Prepare for any and all guest requests
  • Participate in on-going training
  • Comply with Valencia Hotel Group (and its affiliates) standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel/CRO operations.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Valencia Hotel Group (and its affiliates) standards as required by scheduling which will vary dependent upon the hotels needs.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills; speak, read and write
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly while providing service to guest
  • Minimum of 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages
  • Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.

``` - High School graduate or equiv. - Knowledge of P.O.S. systems. Preferably MICROS.

Essential Physical Abilities:

  • Endure various physical activity throughout the work areas, such as reaching, bending, climbing, stooping, push or pull heavy loads weighing up to 50 lbs.; and lift and/or carry or otherwise move packages, and boxes.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk continuously throughout the shift to perform essential job functions.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to be able to grasp, load, and carry trays.
  • Ability to endure repetitive motions for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain good coordination while serving orders quickly.

Working Environment:

  • Interior and exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
  • Exposure to various hazardous chemicals
  • Exposure to food items and beverages
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Hotel Operations or Customer Serviceexperience preferred
