Job Summary The position performs many functions in the sales department that directly relate to growing the business and supporting our customers, our sales force, and our internal customers. The position requires the necessary leadership skills that will help lead Meridian Bioscience, Inc. to meet and exceed the company's goals in the area of sales and profits. Key Duties Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities: Achieve 100% or greater to regional adjusted sales plan. Implement the Sales and Marketing Plan on a regional basis. Provide feedback to the home office on these field level activities. Assume responsibility for achievement of regional sales goals by assisting each representative in reaching his/her own territory sales goals. Develop customer relationships within the region. This includes hospital, reference lab, distributor, Key Opinion Leaders and other personnel. Execute new product launches to ensure complete participation among reps and achievement of regional goals. Strive to maintain or increase average selling prices on products sold within the region. This directly affects company profitability. Accepts fiduciary responsibility for Sales and communicates and maintains adherence to Meridian's corporate policies and procedures. Leadership of the Regional Sales Team: Ensure continual development of personnel. Develop each representative to his or her fullest potential through the use of sound management skills. Such skills include, but are not limited to, interpersonal, listening, pre- and post-call analysis, coaching, counseling and sales leadership skills. Train and coach, the regional sales force. Take part in executing and maintaining the sales training program. Field travel with the representatives; conduct joint sales calls. Goal is to work with each representative at least once per quarter. Provide evaluations of sales calls during field travel. Using the Field Travel Report, provide other feedback as necessary and develop a plan of action for each representative. Establish and maintain open and frequent communications with each representative, Sales Leadership, and corporate personnel. Hold weekly conversations with reps as a minimum. Promote a sense of teamwork within the region. Lead by example as a positive role model. Conduct performance appraisals with the representatives on a regular basis. Formal appraisals for merit increases must be done annually. Take appropriate and timely corrective measures as it relates to performance or behavioral problems throughout the region. Recruit, interview and hire field sales personnel. Establish and maintain relationships with recruiters and a keep backlog of candidates where possible to reduce downtime. Handle administrative tasks as required: Ensure that the representative's and one's own administrative responsibilities are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Help in developing the annual sales department expense budget. Once budgeted, monitor the regional sales expenses versus budget. Assist in the de
