Labcorp Lab Services Team Leader in Burlington, North Carolina

Are you an experienced lab professional who enjoys leading others and looking to take on a new challenge? LabCorp is seeking a Lab Services Team Lead to join their DNA team located in Burlington NC!

In this position, the Lab Services Team Lead supports the development and optimization of new and existing DNA diagnostic tests. Conducts routine to complex experimental procedures within overall scope of a research project and/or diagnostic test development project. Additional job duty (as assigned): (Hazardous Chemical Waste Management) Proper identification of known hazardous material in the workplace. The knowledge of personal protection measures.

The working schedule for this position will be: Monday -Friday 7:30 pm – 4:00 am, 10% shift differential offered for 2nd shift.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conducts research on development related projects with limited oversight through development.

  • Performs validations and prepares validation reports.

  • Supports Lab Operations by troubleshooting and optimizing assays.

  • Trains, coaches and assist laboratory staff on newly developed and legacy procedures and/or assays.

  • Serves as first line of defense for resolving hardware and assay specific problems in the laboratory.

  • Performs and maintains schedules for preventative maintenance on laboratory equipment as assigned.

  • Communicateshardware/reagent/consumableissues directly to manufacturers.

  • Assists in programming laboratory automation.

  • Perform mechanical repairs to laboratory hardware.

  • Assists quality assurance team in resolving laboratory issues.

  • Maintains equipment logs and records.

  • Communicates regularly with Technical Director and Laboratory Manager on issues that affect production.

  • Documents all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.

  • Coordinates work of other departmental staff as required.

  • Acts a subject matter expert in areas of testing and support problem investigation and resolution as needed.

  • Assists supervisor/manager in performing various assigned responsibilities completely and accurately and within established timeframes.

  • Assists Supervisor in the performance of the following duties: training staff, scheduling staff for work, reviewing completed work to ensure accuracy and compliance, troubleshooting problems as they arise, making work-flow recommendations to supervisor.

  • Assists supervisor in monitoring employee performance and ensures quality expectations, (e.g. monitors employee break times, quantity, and quality of work) and helps address performance issues with employees.

  • Clearly communicates all concerns/issues related to assigned area to Supervisor/assigned to staff and accurately completed within established time frames.

  • Meets company attendance policy.

  • Ensures a professional work environment is maintained.

  • Acts in a professional manner to colleagues; pleasant, shares information relevant to work, no gossiping or disparaging remarks.

  • Cooperates fully and completely with all efforts to implement and enforce LabCorp’s Corporate Integrity Program.

  • Sets a personal example of high ethical standards in performing his/her assigned duties.

  • Exhibits awareness of, and adheres to, LabCorp’s compliance policies, which apply specifically to his/her assigned duties.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or related life science

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in Clinical Diagnostic Testing

  • ASCP/AMT Certification not required but preferred.

  • Computer literate, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and email.

  • The knowledge of personal protectionmeasures. The avoidance of accidents.

  • The knowledge of hazardous waste characteristics, hazardous waste volume generation limits, accumulations limits, spill control measures, record keeping, proper handling and container management, labeling, container, and storage inspection.
