This posting is for a full-time, 9-month, unclassified, faculty position.

Salary will be pro-rated based on start date.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement:

•Associate degree from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or bachelor's degree in healthcare field; master's degree preferred.

• Possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to Sonography; possess a certification in OB/GYN scanning.

• Valid driver’s license.

Experience:

• Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.

• Documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and educational theories and techniques.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.

  • Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

  • Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.

  • Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time.

  • Must be capable of walking, standing, bending for 40 % or more of time.

Examples of Work

Coordination of the clinical component of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, including:

  • Be responsible for coordinating clinical education with didactic education as assigned by the program director

  • Evaluate and ensure the effectiveness of clinical experiences for the concentration(s) students are enrolled in

  • Provide clinical instruction and document the evaluation and progression of clinical performance leading to clinical competence

  • Work with the NAH program coordinator and the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program director to establish new affiliation and maintain availability of current affiliates

  • Schedule drug screenings and background checks for clinical students

  • Create student site assignment lists and forward to Program Director for approval and to NAH program coordinator

  • Update, print and distribute Preceptor Handbooks for each clinical site

  • Maintain site folders including all JRC-DMS required documentation:

  • Site license

  • License renewal for preceptors

  • Site inspection form

  • ASHP history form

  • Ensure delivery of site packet to each location where students are placed.

  • Continuous monitor clinical student performance through onsite visits and other methods, as appropriate.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

Instructor duties to include, but not limited to:

  • Instruction of students in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

  • Contributions to the continued development of the curriculum

  • Participation in professional growth and community service.

  • Maintenance of conference and academic advising hours.

  • Participation in committees as assigned.
